OKLAHOMA CITY ZOO

This project involved a redesign of the Oklahoma City Zoo’s current brand, as well as a new design for a mobile app. The new redesigned logo emphasizes the letterforms of “OKC” and “ZOO” in a more bold and unified rectangle shape than the previous design. Among all the other primary exhibits at the OKC Zoo, the elephant exhibit is the largest in size and the most popular among visitors (especially children). This influenced the decision to make the elephant become the primarily symbol incorporated in the logo.

The OKC Zoo app was created to provide guests with location services, information on the animals and exhibits, and fun activities to do while exploring the zoo. It’s bright appearance and easy to use interface was designed to appeal to both children and adults alike.

rebranding + identity + app

The animal face graphics were made with the intent of creating a system that identifies the other primary animal exhibits around the zoo. Their circular shape refers to the “O” of Oklahoma City and their playful, minimalistic designs are intended to be appealing to parents and their children. Each animal face also represents an actual animal in the park that the guests can easily identify within their respective exhibits. These designs are integrated into the zoo’s signage and mobile app.
